Prayer Room: Shrewsbury

“We started on Friday 7pm with 19 people dedicating the room, week and prayer to God,” writes Corinne Ashton. “Inviting God to be at the centre and for His blessing and protection. We have a full rota with over 200 people booked in from 5 years to 90 within the parish and people have dropped in from other churches in the town.

The room is set up in the theme of the Lords prayer. An area based on Father and the names of God’s character. A prayer area for the world, nation, town, parish, our mission partners and for prayer requests to see God’s kingdom come and will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

‘Give us today our daily bread’ is inviting Gods presence into our lives to receive Him more and then GO in His power and anointing to see His kingdom come on earth through us. ‘Forgive us our sin’ is a cross for people to focus on. ‘Lead us not into temptation’ is a lit candle in the darkness and an area for people to write on a graffiti wall about areas of their life in which they are tempted and asking God into that. ‘For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever amen’ is a reflective area with a crown.

There is also a creative table for paint, pastels, plasticine, pipe cleaner prayer expressions. And a bowl with water to place pebbles in to see how the water ripples out and how prayers are rippling out into the community and beyond.

People are thrilled with their time in the room. All encouraging reports such as a real sense of God’s peace and the presence of God.

Here are some quotes of people’s experiences:

‘It was good just to be there and to soak up the atmosphere where so many prayers have been lifted up to God. It’s going to be a fabulous week. We found the ‘prayer requests’ basket particularly spiritually uplifting. So many people in such need of healing… desperately needing God to come into their lives’.

‘Much will change. Much will be better. Much is being done to bring church people closer together… sharing in this time of corporate prayer’.

‘Really exciting and thrilled 24/7 is going well. I had a lovely hour on my own this lunchtime in the prayer room…so peaceful and God’s presence so tangible. The hour went incredibly quickly, so I am glad to have signed up for more later in the week…!! GOD IS GOOD…what a privilege to have this special time with HIM’

‘We really felt a great peace in the room, you have set up the room beautifully, which really did help to focus our prayers’.

There is a sense of God wanting people to STOP and be in His presence.

We have also had positive publicity in the local paper and radio inviting people to send in prayer requests.

So, all good. We are continuing to PUSH into God to see Him, His kingdom come, praying lots for protection and are expectant to how He will answer prayer.”
