“I trust this will be the start of something amazing in our church…” Lorna Randall wrote to 24-7 UK last week. She encouraged everyone who took part in Christchurch Chineham’s prayer week to write down the amazing ways God had answered them in a journal.
Read on to share a few anonymous snippets of grace-filled moments with Lorna… but one small word of warning; you are about to be dangerously inspired to pray!
- “I used to be a member of a small group who met once a week to pray for the mission of our church. We saw great things happen & indeed we embarked on mission, but people moved away and soon it was just me opening up the church for prayer & no one else coming along. It was discouraging, no one seemed to care… but here I am, at Christchurch Chineham, encouraged by a church that has prayer at the heart of what it does. Everyone is encouraged to pray and the leadership sees the importance of prayer. I am so thankful to those who have organised this week of prayer and for the environment. I am sure that we will see great things from God because we are taking the time to meet with him. We will be encouraged, but we will be challenged. We have to be tuned into God & when he challenges us as a church to do something we might be unsure about or worried about, we will need to trust him. The upper room is an inspiration, to look out of the windows in the roof, above the tree tops to the changing sky. There’s a sense of God being close. We can almost touch him.”
- “I came in with an open mind and God pinned me down in the first corner and spoke about Christian marriages – His way. Thank you Lord.”
- “Thank you for this wonderful room. It is like a little piece of heaven – so quiet & peaceful. I felt your presence here Lord, a warm feeling & smell of fresh bread enclosed me like a cuddle. It is a very moving experience, thank you. Amen”
- “Humbled, I sit here while my children relax in God’s presence. My 7 year old knelt at the foot of the cross and shared his little strong seed of faith with me & God.”
- “I lift to God my concerns and worries & I know he hears my prayers. But why do I still worry? Why do I still carry the burdens on my own shoulders? I hope bit by bit the Lord will show me how to let go.”
- “It was wonderful to escape the modern noise and find some peace to listen.”
At the end of all the beautiful thoughts, an 11 year old boy who has dyslexia struggled to write the following, which says it all really: ”the Room is Good and a exlent way to spen time with God – O happy day yove woshed my sin away – we sig and shout it God is Good God is good Halljler Amen.”
