The 7:14 community shared their vision underpinning their viral prayer flashmob events with 24-7 Prayer in the UK today. Did you know there are now over 50 events happening in cities globally, and they are spreading like wildfire across the UK and the globe!
“The disciples had been with Jesus for some time. One day however, a crowd of five thousand people made their way towards them. Jesus asked a simple question, with no easy answers: “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” Philip rightly replied, “Eight months wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”
But then Andrew offered an answer as remarkable for its boldness as for the faith that it displayed, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish.”
If you’re anything like me, then you sometimes find yourself looking at the news headlines, wondering what the heck is going on!
All over the world, nations are shaking: politically, economically, socially, tectonically. It’s a time of great challenge and change. In the face of such need, we can often feel powerless, wondering what difference we can make.
‘7:14’ is a vision to see the ‘everybodies’, the ‘you’s’ and the ‘me’s’, released and empowered to respond and make a difference. It’s a vision to see the whole Church, young and old, come together to pray for our nations and leaders.
Not just inside, out of sight, within four walls, behind closed doors. But outside, publicly, in the heart of every city. A visible statement of faith!
So on December 1st, over 50 cities in many different countries will unite for an hour of public prayer for their nations.
There’ll be no stage and no mics, no brands and no speaker. No sense of a centre at all. Just the people of God in one place at one time, with the healing of lands on their hearts. There’ll be singing and silence, worship and witness, corporate acts and complete freedom. A beautiful image of what the church is called to be. A visible sign of what the church is called to do.
Yet within that hour we will all be united at set points for corporate worship: the lord’s prayer, kneeling, singing, breaking bread. Indeed our breaking bread together will be our greatest witness to hope. Christ’s broken body for a broken world.
You are called to join this movement to see the Church rise up in an apathetic age. It’s all just fish and loaves, but with him it’s so much more!
The world is on the streets right now, rising up for change. It’s time the Church was too, proclaiming Jesus Christ is Lord! ”
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
