Joy James from Tearfund who is also part of the Guildford Boiler Room community, talks about why the Global Poverty Prayer Week is so important:
“The One Voice prayer week is a chance to get on our knees before God and pray, to make some space and seek His heart about the poverty and injustices we see in our world. It is a week to ask God to change and empower us and local churches to see His kingdom come.
I would particularly encourage you to pray for change. Lift your faith and expectation that God can change even the most desperate circumstances and ask Him how we can be part of the answer to our prayers by taking action.
In the Guildford Boiler Room prayer room we’ll me focusing on Isaiah 58, thinking up actions we can take to make a difference both locally and further afield. It’s a time and space for creative prayer…and will be bringing the focus of poverty local and asking ourselves ‘What injustice do we see locally?’ Who do we I know who is spiritually poor?’ ‘Who do I know living in material poverty?’ We’ll also be praying for those who face a lack of opportunity, educational poverty and emotional poverty.
Please join in with Once Voice in crying out to God a as we seek justice, mercy and an end to poverty.”
