“Yesterday a few of us from our prayer community moved house” writes Joe Knight from Gloucester.
“Some people might view it as a mate moving in to our house, but this is more than someone just coming to lodge with us.
Chris gets married in June, but we’re embarking on a ‘community house’ experiment from now until then, saving him some money and exploring ‘life together’. We’re trying to view it as an opportunity to nurture a better sense of community, and using our house as a resource for that. We’re hoping to develop a better daily rhythm of prayer in the house, and a better use of the house for our little 24/7 community as a whole…maybe developing our garden to provide us and others with more veg etc. It’s an exciting prospect – that may not actually work, but it’s cool to have a set amount of time to explore all this. One thing is for sure, that on many levels, balance and boundaries are important, with a side dish of risk-taking and seasoned with a hint of (faith-filled) foolishness!
Koinonia, the word above, means ‘communion’, and is used in the bible to express the community of saints, or the united loving family of God. I’m excited about what we’ll learn and discover over the next few months, as we seek to share life and follow God more and more. Interesting times.”
